Description of Meloxigard Meloxicam 20 mg/ml 100 ml:
The drug belongs to NSAIDs of the oxicam class, is a selective inhibitor of COX-2. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. The mechanism of action is associated with a decrease in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins as a result of inhibition of the enzymatic activity of COX-2, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins in the focus of inflammation; has little effect on COX-1, reduces the risk of developing side effects.
It is a suspension from white to light yellow color.
Ingredients:
Active ingredient: 1 ml of the drug contains the active substance meloxicam – 20 mg;
Auxiliary components: sodium benzoate, glycerol, povidone K 30, xanthan gum, disodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium dihydrate, citric acid, simethicone emulsion and purified water.
Pharmacological Properties of Meloxigard Meloxicam 20 mg/ml 100 ml:
Meloxigard has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. The mechanism of action is associated with a decrease in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins as a result of inhibition of the enzymatic activity of COX-2.
Relative bioavailability is almost 100%. After administration of the drug in a dose of 5 mg, the maximum concentration (max) is 1.62 μg / ml and is reached within approximately 60 minutes. Meloxicam binds well to plasma proteins, especially to albumin (99%). Penetrates into the synovial fluid, the concentration in the synovial fluid is about 50% of the plasma concentration. The volume of distribution (Vd) is low, on average it is 11 l.
Meloxicam is almost completely metabolized in the liver with the formation of 4 inactive derivatives. The main metabolite, 5-carboxymeloxicam (60% of the dose), is formed by oxidation of the intermediate metabolite 5-hydroxymethylmeloxicam, which is also excreted, but in smaller quantities (9% of the dose).
It is excreted equally with feces and urine, mainly in the form of metabolites. In the unchanged form, less than 5% of the daily dose is excreted in the feces; in the urine, the drug is found in unchanged form only in a small amount. The elimination half-life (T ½) is 20 hours. Clearance averages 8 ml/min. Meloxicam shows linear pharmacokinetics in doses of 7.5-15 mg when administered. Hepatic or renal failure of moderate severity does not significantly affect the pharmacokinetics of meloxicam.
